Our video production services are helping Dymocks Children's Charities to raise funds to improve children's literacy, health and well being in Australia.
Our brief was to deliver a clear message to corporate Australia that would stimulate funding in this important area, but just as importantly, to establish DCC as the premier charity in Australia for children’s literacy. To achieve this, our video production services were utilized to bring some influential personalities onto people’s desktops and TV screens.
In this 10-minute video, hear from DCC Ambassadors Adam Spencer (702 ABC breakfast Radio), Bob Carr (Premier's Reading Challenge), James Strong (Australian Council for the Arts) and ABC Chairman Maurice Newman about the importance of children's literacy and the ability of Dymocks Children's Charities to deliver real results that have a lasting impact.
According to Dymocks CEO Don Grover, poor literacy is linked to failure at school, low self-esteem, welfare dependence and little chance of getting a job. “In Australia, literacy levels are quite high, yet there remain large populations with poor literacy skills”.
Blaxcell St. School in NSW is featured as a recipient of a significant donation from Adam and Melanie Spencer, who, together with Dymocks Children's Charities are dramatically improving literacy amongst predominantly non-English speaking children in Sydney's west.
“My wife and I just helped provide some books” said Adam Spencer, who comments on the difficulties children face when there aren’t a lot of book in school or in the home. “I can struggle to think of a single greater gift you can give a young kid than the ability to read”.
“Literacy is the basis for all other learning” according to Bob Carr, who claims Dymocks children’s charities is the best positioned and most effective organisation in Australia to promote children’s literacy.
