ThinkUKnow is an Internet safety program delivering interactive training to parents, carers and teachers through primary and secondary schools across Australia using a network of accredited trainers.
Created originally by the UK Child Exploitation and Online Protection (CEOP) Centre, ThinkUKnow Australia has provided parents, teachers and carers with a package of tools and resources that allow them to understand the issues children face online, as well as some of the new technologies they are using. It also promotes the responsible use of technology, arguing against banning the use of technology or restricting the tremendous upside it offers in the education space.
In this three minute marketing video production you will hear from representatives from the Australian Communications and Media Authority, The Australian Federal Police and Microsoft about the risks children face online and how the program is increasing the level of awareness of the dangers in communicating with strangers.
The title of the program gets its name from the common conception many young people have that they “think they know” who is out there talking to on the other end of the chat window.
